One last post before I leave for India Tuesday am. I'll be bird watching in the north for 2 weeks and then 1 week photographing tigers (my dream come true) with Harshad, from the Wildlife forum. I'm so excited!
For the kudu, I masked the animal and then with the exposure slider in PS overexposed the bkgd until the details disappeared. Then I converted it in Topaz BW, high key III. Then a trip into Fractalius for a very minimalist result. I originally erased the effects from the eye but did not like how it looked with the rest of the simple, bare lines of the image.

I love the simple, minimalist look to this, Nancy. Just enough detail leaving the rest to the mind to fill in. Very nicely done.
Good luck on your India trip. Hope you come back with lots of great photos! :S3:

Nancy, First of all have a great time in India and tell Harshad I said hello! Great looking image and the minimalistic look is awesome. I do wish that there was a little hint of the grass or ground to help anchor the animal, I might also darken the eye area just a touch but this is a very nice look and you did a fantastic job with it!

Denise, those are the 2 issues I experimented with and just could not find the effect I wanted. But it will be fun to try again. Thank you Christoper, Paul & Steve. I'm just about out the door with my luggage for 20+ hours in a plane. I hope to have lots of photos to share when I return.

Love the minimalist style to this, Nancy. Has an almost pencil sketch look to it, and love the pose and flow of the lines. Very creative and nicely processed. Have a great trip!
