I really liked the pastel look of the original capture here. I applied a fractalius layer, a topaz clean layer and finally, ran a Seeram illustration action. I erased down thru to the original eye on the first two layers. C&C welcome.

Dan, nice work I like the effects and composition. I would probably like to see it a bit darker...but thats just me. It has that illustrated look..TFS
Very nice image and application, Dan.
Like the BG patterns and colors.
Very much of a stained glass look with the overlapping branches and the pale bursts of color in the bkgd. I can see several different takes on this. A bit darker on the entire heron or even lighten the head & eye more for a more abstract look. I like the pastel-ness & bit of a glow that the wispy whites provide.
This is really good. The soft color is great, I really like that eye.

Dan, I really like the pastel look of this too. Nice job with the original capture. Killer eye!
I love the pastel look as well. For my taste, I think I'd tone that eye down a little bit to give the overall image a bit of a softer appearance.
Dan....Like this alot...i think I agree with maureen,,,,tone down the eye so it does not compete so much with the beautiful pastel look
Beautiful composition, Dan. I like the camouflaged effect with the eye coming through well... TFS, Now I am getting some ideas on how to work with busy bg :S3:
Dan, this feels very Oriental to me:S3: (Which is good thing!). I'd like to see the top of the heron a little more pastel but it's just wonderful the way it is also.
Thanks all for the nice comments and great suggestions! I think that I agree with knocking back the eye a bit.
wow, this is really very cool looking. Fractalius is a lot of fun to play with, and I think you did really well making this look unique and creative. Super processing.
