Finally we get some frost down here just when i thought winter was over...:2eyes2: And with the frost my trusted old friend and favorite winter bird the Eurasian Bittern came out of it's cover again too. Here he is taking on the distinctive "pole-position" in order to blend in with his surroundings (wich does not always work..:w3)

Very nice bird in habitat shot, love those eyes. You have given me an idea, I just might know where they might be around here!

Hi Jonathan,
I am not that familiar in the UK but know that Potteric Carr might be a good place to start..:w3
Good luck and thanks for your reply.

Very nice environment image and the fact both ayes are visible make it compelling. Coloration looks great, I would personally have liked more DOF for the feet to be sharper. Otherwise a nice appealing image! TFS Jeroen!

Love the downward-pointing eyes (OK they point straight out here, but when it lowers its head...). The position of the bent reed in front is a bit of a shame. A very atmospheric shot.

Tough birds to get out in the open. This shows the habitat nicely, and I love the eyes. Too bad about the bent reed, but I guess it adds to the habitat.

Wonderful image. I really like the habitat here and just how those eyes pop. They draw you to the bird very nicely.
Well done.

Thanks for your kind words guys! I agree about the bend reed stem but it's just their habitat and getting them out in the open is vey hard.

Excellent details and a nice alert pose, I am ok with all the stems except for the oof one that is broken in the foreground, you may want to try the content-aware heal brush in PS it might take it out :w3
