Wonderful intense stare!
The dropping snow makes this one for me.
greetings,

Hi Jim, after having seen these magnificent owls on a national geographic program recently, you are so lucky to be able to see this at the end of your lens. Great IQ, and you have brought out the finer detail very well. I like how the owl is warming his feet, and I do like the inclusion of the snow. How I wish to see these guys one day. Wanna swop an owl trip for a kingfisher trip? :w3
Stunning image, Jim. Love that stare, the complementary colors, the falling snow. Ethereal look, really lovely.
I agree with the above comments. Additionally, I like the diagonal inclination of the perch.
Super shot, Jim. Great look, and the snow makes it, along with the breast feathers covering the feet. I like the comp, with a bit more space at bottom than one might normally see, since he's looking down.
very nice eye contact and head angle. the snow adds to the ambiance too. The tail area has lost a bit of contrast, maybe something came in between you and the ow, would bump up this area in post a little bit

That's about as good as it gets for a perched GGO image. The snowflakes add alot, and there is just the right amount of interest in the BG. Two thumbs up!
Like everyone else I love the image.
Very nice image. I like it for all the reasons stated above but love the snow and the feathers warming the talons. I agree with Arash that it looks like something came between the tail and the lens. I would love to see a repost with your contrast adjustments,
Gail
I am so envious of your experience and glad that you are sharing.
Thanks for the comments Gail. I know it looks like something got between me and the camera. I have around 50 images taken over five minutes from this vantage point and they are all like this. The repost might be a little to dark in the tail compared to the reality. Hope you like it.
I really like the repost. No further nits from me!

Exceptional image, Jim. Perfect comp, great mood and killer specie. Doesn't get much better!
A brilliant image - as everyone said about as good as you could hope for. I too was just a little hesitant over the tail area and I like your repost very much indeed.
Great shot of this beauty Jim. Really like the added snowfall and HA. Still turns my stomach looking at these shots.
Beautiful. love the snow and the expression. Repost helped alot.
Agree with all comments above Jim... Does not get much better than this :-)
Wow!!! Stunning image. Love the pose and a killer stare to top it off. I really like the falling snow, and the repost is just as good as it gets.
Well done.
Hi
Love this image. The look, the BG and snow all add up to an arresting image!
