I photographed this anhinga from the Anhinga trail in Everglades National Park just before sunset. I’d used fill flash and the background was dark with lots of distractions. I started to darken the distractions and then realized a totally black background would be special.
Comments and suggestions welcome,

Great looking Anhinga, Morris, and like how you simplified the composition bringing BG to all black and placed subject off center. The neck creates a nice curved line. Wish bill was just a bit sharper, and wondering if you can get more detail out of blacks in Anhinga using S&H?

Morris, I like the use of black on black here. The pose is very nice. I agree w/ Brendan regarding the bill. I think you placed the Anhinga well in the frame.

Hey Morris,
Agree with Brendan on trying to get more detail in the black of the Anhinga......that will give a bit more seperation form the BG.

Thank you everyone,
With very little light I was wide open and that’s why the beak is OOF and it is the same story for the neck. While it’s a good idea to try and dig more detail out of the neck, it’s not in the RAW image.
