Burrowing owl. hope you aren't bored...more to come.
40D. 400 f5.6L at f/7.1. iso 320. 1/800s. almost full frame.
These eyes are amazing, aren't they? when the bird was looking down at me, the pupils were dilated. It looks up directly into the sun, the pupils become small...like in this shot. I think it makes bigger impact.
Had to photograph very low and through the grass. otherwise, the FG-BG just wasn't that smooth.

This would be great for an eyeglass print campaign! I love the eyes but am not crazy about the blurred grasses that cover the lower body. The comp is excellent and I would add a couple of points to the neutrals in selective coloring to make it pop a bit more,

Wonderful shot with good use of DOF. I agree with Gail on the local contrast enhancement.

I like it a lot with this OOF grass. I might have tried to move a bit the catchlight on the right eye so as to make it look at us and add another one in the left one. Well done!

repost. i had this one already done. uploaded the wrong file.
I too like the low angle and framing created by the OOF FG vegetation, very nice. Nice greens to go with the warm tones of the owl and BG. What I would do, however, is smooth out the faint large pale streak at right edge.

Very nice owl KD! I do like the oof vegetation and and warm light. Daniel has very sharp eyes as I could not see the faint streak the first time!

Ooops... repost looks better and i don't mind the grasses. Makes for a different image. Sure hope to have one of these this year.

Repost looks great KD...OOF grass in FG adds to the image...and you composed precisely to leave enough space for virtual feet...

It's hard to look at this image, I'm always drawn back to those eyes. I love it!
I too like the little bit of foreground blur, I've often gone out my way to introduce obscuring foreground elements. To me it makes the image more wild/natural.
As mentioned, the right pale are on the right edge is distracting, I might be tempted to go after the green blur behind the tail too.

I love how you used the OOF grass to frame this. Great comp for the pose, and the repost just rocks.

The owl looks so amazing that the OOF grass does not distract so much !! Nice one KD .

Hi Kaus, great eye contact, and those eyes are amazing. Your usual low angle works wonders, and I like how the owl blends into the FG foliage.
