Moon: D200 + 800mm mirror + 1.4 TC @ 1120mm, ISO 400, 1/100, f8 Osprey: D70s + 80-400 VR @ 400mm, ISO 200, 1/500, f 8, fill flash (SB800 + Better Beamer)
The osprey was photographed in Oceanside Long Island and the Moon in Queens New York. I’m not after a realistic look, just the drama and effect as in a grade B SiFi movie.
Comments and suggestions welcome,

Great expression in the Osprey, and I like he moon in the background. For a bit more "drama", I would like a darker sky to contrast with the moon.

Good OOTB image and a good job of pasting in the Osprey, over the moon. I wish you didn't have to cut off the wings but its your image...nicely done.
I agree with a slightly darker sky as suggested above and maybe darkening the bright area below the eye on the left.

Thank you Paul,
The original osprey image had the wings clipped as I did not pull back on the zoom soon enough.

Morris, what a neat composite you have here! I was intrigued by the idea of taking this darker so I opened the image and used Nik's Color Efex "Midnight" filter on it. I then toned it down a bit in Photoshop but left the deeper contrasts that the filter produced to give the hawk a more menacing look.

Thank you Jules,
Osprey never have this much contrast yet what you have done is powerful.

Morris, I like the OP with the light coming through the tail-seems natural to me. Great looking details. You have made a very nice OOTB image from your original capture. Nice job!
