This was taken from a hide on Broadlough. Started off as a nice day and then changed. It is not often that you see these out in the open but I think he was as annoyed with the weather as I was. I think the colours and splashes give a nice feeling.

Personally i really liked this frame. i have never ever seen snipe in such open clean area. not even an image from india at least. Very pretty and i like the large frame and tiny snipe. might have played more creatively with 1 stop brighter and taken the snipe to more of right a bit with B&W version.
Thanks for the comments Mital. I tried the image with different exposure and brightness setting but it lost the dark rainy feeling. I will have another play with it doing some selective work just on the Snipe. I agree also about moving it a bit to the right. I don't normally thing of B&W but that is an interesting option and I'll have a look at that also.

MIchael, I like the feel with all the rain drops and the splashes. composition is good as well. Having said that, I think you should have shot at higher iso and ss. I detect some motion blur in the bird's head. With higher SS, even the spashes would have been sharper. Bird a little too small in the frame for my liking..but nothing much you could have done there.
Michael, I like the rain drops and splashes and the look back of the bird. I would consider a pan crop and eliminate some of the OOF empty space at the top.
I really think you are onto something with this capture. Great thinking under not so great conditions. I think I would take some off of the bottom (up to those 3 OOF drops) and some off the right. This would give the bird and the water drops which are in focus a tad more attention.
