Bullfinch

I am wondering if it is too much noice in this picture and of course anything else that might not be that good. I really dont know how to work with noice reduction so I never use it.

I have used

Nikon D7000
F. 4
1/640
ISO 800
200-400 mm at 300 mm.

Patricia the question of noise is a personal one. If you don't find it objectionable then it is ok, if you think there is noticeable noise and you intend to use the image ina competition then the question is would the judges find it objectionable or intrusive.
There is some noise in the image, and I suspect it would look a little better if you applied some noise reduction. i would personally apply a little to the subject and more to the background, the logic being that when you apply noise reduction the consequence is that some detail will be lost.
I wonder if your image was under exposed, this would tend to generate extra noise. The darker plumage on the bullfinch appears to be a little too dark, there is relatively little detail revealed, I sense the whole image could perhaps tolerate a little more exposure and then re evaluate the shadows and highlights or perhaps try curves to adjust shadows and highlights.

Pretty bird. All I ever seem to find in dreary old Cleveland, OH are robins :)

As far as cropping, I'd chop off a little on the left to at least get rid of that slight
'bump' in the branch.

My eye is also being drawn to that little part under the bird (next to the green thing....
I love my technical terms :) ) maybe clone that out.

I can't decide on whether the bump underneath the tail should go or not.

What a pretty subject this is. The noise would be very easy to correct. But I like it the way it is. Poor lighting condition can aggravate the noise level .
