This shot was taken near Rancho Naturalista in Costa Rica on the Rio Tuis. While shooting a video of this Sunbittern hunting for large centipedes, etc., my son walked up the river a ways, spooked a hawk, which then flew into a tree near the Sunbittern, provoking this display. I got a couple shots before the bird relaxed and withdrew the wingspread. One of my favorite captures on the trip. And a lucky one with an assist for my son. Loved everything about this shot but the slight "trimming" on the tail feathers! Darn!!:bg3:
