First Light

Got this image a few weeks back the same day Itook my spill just a few minutes before this shot. Clouds blocked the sun for most of the first hour then I was blessed with a few minutes of break thru light and a glorious glow. This guy got so close to me in the water that I clipped the tail end. So I cropped to about mid body. Does this work? By the way how does my color management look?

Canon 1DMIII 300 mm 2.8 w 2x
ISO1000 f8@1/250 tripod in the water
NR and selective sharpening cropped to about 70% of original

I think you should crop more from the left. I would prefer to see no more than half of the body. The light is beautiful and love the water drops.

I agree with Laurie about the crop. I would crop from the left to the highest point of the back, and if you have any on the right, add that back in.

Golden light plays well with the subdued blues of the water.

The eye is great, and I like the slicked back do!

This is as much as feels comfortable to me.

You are the artist, and have to feel good about what you have created. I think this crop is an improvement over the original. I would put it aside, and look at it again in a week or so, and try other cropping options.

Makes me miss my loons
