This is an IR image that I processed in Nik Silver Efex. I then went to PS and added 2 Fractalious filter layers. The first used the Shaggy preset with adjustments, then a wide crayon preset with adjustments. I followed that by adjusting the opacity of each layer until I got the effect that I liked. Your thoughts are always appreciated.
Dave, I think this is lovely. I like what you did with the filters and the IR is a nice touch. The color tones and composition are interesting. Nicely done.:S3:
I did not think that I would like this after viewing the thumbnail but actually I like it a lot. The design is loverly as are the colors and tones. Toning down the brightest white of the tree on the right might make it even better. Is that a path or ice around the pond?
Striking composition. Love the curve in the tree trunk. Really nice peaceful scene. The processing is top notch.................excellent.
Cool infrared image and composition, Dave. BW looks good, and like the textures of the trees and greas and overall tonal variation. Nice combination of processing to give it a Hobbit like storybook feel.
Dave, your processing here really works well. I love the effect. Agree with toning down the brightest tree a bit.
Thank you Denise and Artie, I appreciate your time and thoughts. The area around the pond is actually green grass that is rendered as white by the infrared capture. I had to tone that down quite a bit. I will go back and work on toning down the tree that you mentioned. My first attempts at that changed the tones in that area too much for my taste. They seemed to shift to a yellow for some reason.

I really don't want to lug another heavy camera around, but the more I see of infrared images, the more I tempted to do it at least some of the time. Your image is just wonderful from the standpoint of textures, tones, and composition. I don't know if you're a devotee of divine proportions, but your image just rocks from that standpoint in terms of the horizontal distribution of elements. I would've cropped from the bottom just a bit to make the far edge of the pond and the bottom of the white tree fall on a divine proportion line, too. That would also bring the curve of the tree and grass closer to the bottom. It's a great image just the way it is, however. I expect bright whites in IR, so the tree that others have mentioned didn't bother me, but I'll be interested in seeing how it looks if you're going to do a re-post.
I've managed to tone down the brightest white in the tree we are concerned with just a bit. Let's see how this presents to everyone now. Dennis, I really appreciate your thoughts, and I'm just now learning about divine proportions and must admit that when this was captured I was not thinking that way. I'm glad that you have made this reference as it will give me more to consider in future composition. The IR converted camera is a blast to play with, but I haven't used it nearly as much as I could. Having Nik Silver Efex may cause me to reach for it more often now.

Love this image and the repost is superb. Such a wonderful combination of IR capture and NIK post production. Would never have thought of it. Composition works for me big time. Brings some magic into the image.
