Devil's Punch Bowl

This is an image from last spring. The Devil's Punch Bowl is a waterfall found along the Niagara Escarpment in Hamilton, Ontario. The river is very small and dries up quickly without rainfall, but it does dump into a massive bowl-like formation. This one was processed with Topaz BW Effects with a heavy handed use of the detail sliders for the grungy look.

Love this image Andrew, like the grungy look and tight comp with the placement of the falls. I would be interested to see a version where the falls are silky smooth nearer to the original image against the processed grungy background, may be an interesting dynamic?

Normally, I like less detail in water flows, but I like what you did here. Nice simple, clean design. Great texture relief from your processing. I like the slight curve in the rock formation and the same in the water..............Nicely seen. Well processed for the effect you were after.

Andrew, I like the composition and the added details. Nathan makes an interesting suggestion. Good idea for the conversion.:S3:

I really like the detail you've pulled from this. the composition is about perfect for me. As stated above, very nicely seen and captured.

I like the detail your brought out and the curve of the water flow adds to the composition. Well done!

Beautiful composition, Andrew. Love the bg texture and details. Nice flow of the water... smooth waterfall could be a good alternative.

Excellent work, Andrew. I like the composition, textures, and especially the subtle tension created by the opposing horizontal strata of the wall against the relatively vertical lines in the waterfall. Well seen and created.:cheers:
