Spotted some female mule deer just off the road up in the Cleveland National Forest. Partly cloudy day. Crop, ACR, CS5, added a bit of canvas on top & bottom, cloned out some twigs and spots in BG, touched up a few spots on deer.

Brendan, a good strong pose here but I feel that adding canvas top and bottom has made the composition a little boxy. Nice detail in the deer and good separation from the background. In a perfect world, having a little more space on the lhs would have helped in the presentation but still a nice image.

Brendan,
I would like lots more space allround, most particularly on the LHS. Nice detail.

Thanks Hilary, Ken, & Harshad. I do tend to go boxy too often - need to keep that in mind when framing in-camera. Here's a quick repost with added space.

Hi Brendan, I think the OP had a better 'quality' to it, but the additional space has helped. I suspect the 2x has taken it's toll on IQ, so just a thought, but perhaps shoot this wider next time, going for a habitat/environment feel, similar to Kirans elephant?

Thanks Steve, agree I need to work on my in-camera framing. As far as IQ on repost, I did not work on the original file, just a quick change on the jpeg, so that may be the reason.

Could well be, however thanks for the additional feedback. :w3

Nice pose and diffused light. The added space has helped, though I agree with Steve's observation on the IQ of the OP being better :w3
