This is a wonderful tree in my yard that I shot with my infrared camera. I used an Orton effect on it and Nik Silver Efex. I've always loved the tree (it's a hornbeam) and planted native plums in it's proximity. I find it a very peaceful view when I'm outside:S3:
Thanks for looking. Comments and suggestions appreciated.

Cheryl, this is beautiful. It's very well composed, and the range of tones is great. The title you gave it is very appropriate. I've thought for a while that an IR camera would be a good thing. Well, you just pushed me over the edge.
Well, I better stop scrolling up to look at it and submit this.

Dennis, thank you for your kind words. I had my 30D converted by Life Pixels last year and I've been really glad I did. I'm not sure but I think the price has gone down this year. The nice thing about an IR camera is you can shoot in the middle of the day:S3:

Cheryl, You have got to live in a very cool place. How about having a workshop at your place?:S3: No kidding, this image just screams dreamy. IR is just so cool. Beautiful trees. Well composed, really like the lean of the trees. The feeling of light is marvelous (as Billy Crystal says it). Very, very well done!

I really like your infrared images, Cheryl. Great peaceful, dreamscape, love the softness to the trees. Just enough darker areas to give it depth and balance out the composition. Well done!

Cheryl, It's a beautiful scene and perfect for IR. If it were mine I might tone down the bushes under the tree just a touch for some separation. It reminds me of a dream. I almost had my 30D converted-not sure what I'm waiting for! Great job and please show us more!!:S3:

Cheryl, I agree that this is a lovely composition, and perfect for IR. Excellent job here!
I sold off my old D200 for peanuts - now I know I should have had it converted.

Wow. This is super interesting. I know nothing about IR but this lovely image has made me very interested. I agree that a bit more contrast between the main tree and the surrounding ones is a good idea.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate your comments. I'll experiment with Denise's suggestion and see what happens. Denise and John - my rationale for upgrading to my 7D was that I could sell the 30D and use it to help pay for the upgrade but of course I procrastinated so long and never sold it. I was so glad I hadn't because when I became interested in IR I was all set:S3:
