This is my first try to make a b/w conversion in LR3. I would be glad to get some comments and tips about b/w conversion. Image shot at Lake Nakuru, Kenya.

Gregor - I'm sure others can give you more and better advice but I think you need to open up the shadows and try to recover some of the detail that is there. I'd probably start with a levels adjustment and some dodging.

Can't comment too much on the processing as I don't do B & W often but I'll echo Rachel's comments about the shadows. I do like the placement of the heads and horns here, the curves intertwine nicely. A little more space on the bottom to get the rest of the hoof if you got it.
Even more tight may do wonders , excellent one

I agree that it needs a bit more at the bottom to succeed as framed here, Gregor. Here is a suggestion for a repost. I cropped tighter, burned the highlights on the horns a bit and also added some local contrast enhancement. I don't mind having deep blacks that seem devoid of detail in the necks with a shot like this. Let me know what you think...:t3
Hi Morkel
Nice one. I think you are right, a tighter crop is better. Thank you. I actually canīt see the different in light and contrast between the pictures.
