Out of the Box Image of the Week Brendan Dozier for week ending Sept. 2nd, 2011 - Butterfly Macro Flip Abstract

Started as a macro image of a Blue Morpho butterfly taken at an exhibit earlier this year. Zooming into image, I really liked the fine knitted texture in the wings. Cropped a section of the underwing area, which is actually mostly brown with white, yellow, black, and red spots. Then changed to blue tones using photoshop hue and saturation adjustments. Applied Topaz Clean and Detail and flipped image to create design.
