Taken in Mana Pools, one of a pack of around 23 dogs, whom we found on our way to the airport when leaving, unfortunately we had insufficient time to make the most of this sighting, 17th September 2011.

Ken,
The technicals are spot on.
Tack sharp, well exposed and I like the way your zone of focus falls on your subject forward. With an image like this I prefer OOF background with the foreground in focus.
Compositionally the image does not hold my interest. While you have a good looking specimen (important) the lack of eye contact is a detraction.
Eye contact with the viewer, another animal or any other type of psychological line would make this a stronger image IMO.

The techs are perfect, great shot especially for HH.
Perhaps a pano crop would make it a little stronger give some of James concerns above.
Just a thought.

James,
I understand where you are coming from, my focal point was the slightly open mouth and the tongue, but looking again I feel the white part of the eye is a distraction, should I try to "remove" it?
Stan,
When you say a pano crop do you mean narrower from the top air more width ?
