I was going back over some older images from this spring when I ran into this one. I converted it to black and white but really missed that soft periwinkle color of these sweet little flowers so I opened Color Efex and used the colorizer filter to add it back in. I added a light texture to the BG and changed the blend mode to "saturation" and lowered the opacity to 60% (this helped soften the colorizer filter). Last step was to add a small border in a darker purple to frame the flowers.

Very nice, Jules. The color, the original subject with the subdued stem leading to the lower right and the lighter part of the texture (or original image?) leading the eye back up, the frame -- it just all works together. Thanks for posting this.

Beautiful composition, Julie. I love the soft texture and the color. My only suggestion would be to remove the dark petal overlapping into the center flower. Wonderfully processed.

Wonderful image, Julie...love the soft, blurred curve of the stem leading into the image...the subtle toning...the cluster of blooms...this is very nicely done, and a nice break from the fall images! :5

Jules, Nice job with the filtering, soft and dreamy. I like the composition with the stem curving.

Jules...beautiful composition and nicely sharp where it needs to be. The colors are very soothing! I also vote for evicting that dark petal ( ?} near the center bloom. Really enjoying your work !
