Topaz Simplify.
Hi Mitch, nice looking bird! I like the perch and simplify effect. Wonderful light. For me, the OOF foliage on the left seems a bit distracting. I would probably crop a bit off the left or clone out with blue sky as well as reduce the saturation of the blue sky.
Mitch, Indranil makes some very good suggestions. I like what the Simplify did to the evergreens.:S3:
Hi Mitch, love the simplify effect. Agree with Indranil on the out-of-focus foliage.
Same feelings here...love the bird but hate that dark blotch right above him. Might be able to paint a little of the deep green over it to minimize how dark that one area feels compared to all the rest.
Mitch, there's been some very good suggestions made by everyone already...the OOF background in particular, as noted by Indranil, just draws your eye away from the focus of the image. As suggested elsewhere, I'd tone down the blue a bit...and like noted by others, I do like the simplify effect on the foreground foliage.
Hi Mitch, good suggestions above but the image has a certain charm for me. Is that a yellow-rumped warbler? Cute bird that would look even nicer with a cleaner image environment.
Hey Mitch, a lot of great suggestions have already been given but I thought I'd give you another direction to try. I think if you blurred everything except the bird and the part of the branch it's standing on, you might end up with a pleasing image. It would take a bit of fine work where the foliage is touching the bird on the right but I don't think it would be too difficult. :S3:
Thanks Indranil, Denise, Andrew, Julie, John, Kerry and Ken.
After consideration, the changes need on this photo were not worth the time, so I thought I would try a photo taken just a minute of two later.
Any better?
Thanks all.
Mitch
Kerry,
Thanks for your comments. I am a real novice when it comes to bird ID, but when you suggested a Yellow-rumped warbler, I looked it up and I think you nailed it. Here is another pick of the same or similar bird taken at the same time.
