Sanderling Juvenile

Hi everyone,

This lone Sanderling was at the edge of the lake. It was so tame such that it was almost next to our feet as a group of us were walking along the shoreline of the lake.

It is a juvie that is why it was so tame. Do you have more room all around (esp. front, back, and top).

Yes, I do have some room in the front, back, and top as I was using the center focus point around the neck area. Is the cropping too tight? Thanks for any advice!

Sharp, well exposed, nice pose, like the little ripples.

Yes, Artie was implying that it is too tightly cropped. I would start by adding a modest amount in front, and adjust the other sides for best balance, but keeping a relatively greater amount in front of the bird (compared with rear)

Recomposing as per the suggestion offered will make this a real winner. Love the pose, the blues, and especially the small clear wavelet over the foot.

Initially I thought the cropping as seen above was fine. I've seen similar type of cropping by some of the (unnamed) professionals on Flickr as well, so i thought it was okay, but I guess not. It actually makes sense if I look at the above photo when I'm standing from a few feet away from my monitor. It's good to get some consensus from the BPN members.

Here's re-edit with the above suggestions. I added a bit more in all sides, especially in front of the bird, and I don't think I can add any more in the front. Hope this edit is better than the above photo.

Raymond, The repost is a huge improvement but I'd like it better with the bottom cropped as in the original..... Not much learning going on at Flickr.... BTW, thanks a stack for your membership support! I love the wavelet. You might wish to tone down or eliminate some of the brighter whitish rocks at the bottom, just a few.

For me, the bird fits much more comfortably in the frame in the repost than the original. Just too cramped in original.
