This picture was taken on the southwest coast of Norway. I tried for 3 days to get the image of the Sanderling, just before the wave hit the rock. data:
EOS 1D MK III, 500mm L F4, 0 ID, Converter 1.4, ISO 640, 1 / 1250, F 6.3. Date 20/9- 2011.

Overall way too dark. Nice raised wings. Buffy breast indicates a juvenile. Sharp enough. Needs more contrast. The bill tip merging with the rock was bad luck....

Sort of like this. Ten minutes in PS; could not resist getting rid of the merge...
Better, but not as bright as mine which still looks a tiny bit muddy. Fill flash would have helped there.
Nice action caught, Geir. I was going to add that the drab eye needed some popping but Artie remedied that with the repost. It looks so much better overall!
