Up on the hill of sand rocks. A nice alert pose and a nicely designed image with the bird well back in the frame where it should be. A very nice adult with a sweet BKGR (though I am not loving the dark at the top left). Wish that we could see the entire left foot (though it is close). Whites look a bit grey and the bird is most definitely over-sharpened. Was this up close to the dunes by the triangular snow fence?
Thanks Artie, this was taken down by the surf line where I was photographing OC's getting sand fleas for their chicks. I edited this several months ago when I still sharpened in the RAW conversion. I'll take another stab at it today.
Ditto Artie. What a cute little fella. If you rework the image you could also perform some NR to the BG.
Repost, reworked no sharpening in the conversion, USM 70, .3, 0 in CS4, healing brush cleanup in the BGD, one round of NR in neatimage
I like the repost very much. Sharpening in RAW is something I have tried but for web images I prefer sharpening in Photoshop and none in RAW other than the method Artie advocates. I have used RAW sharpening for prints and it works well. It is strongly recommended by Martin Evening in his CS4/5 books.
Repost sharpened perfectly. Good job on the dark strip. Now a bit off the top and a bit off the bottom and you are ready to print!
Repost is excellent and addressing all the issues.
Really nice image and the repost is more pleasing to me as well. I love the low angle and the great colors and also the subtle bg.
