You were having fun on the coast. Love the image design. The clump of black seaweed balances the composition nicely. Nice high key BKGR too. Perhaps a bit more sharpening of the head.
Nice, Nancy. The textures in the ground area are nice. I would like to suggest warming up the image just a little bit.
Lovely shot, nicely balanced, as Artie said. Well captured against the clean BG. Another vote for a little selective sharpening on the head, if it will take it. I might also be tempted to bring out the catchlight if possible. Interesting bill shape on these guys - more of an upturn than our eastern Ruddy.
Bill, They use that bill for prying limpets and the like off the rocks....
Nice soft light and nice pose, Nancy.
Nancy, Beautiful composition. I think Amy makes a good suggestion regarding warming it up just a bit. I'm not a high contrast person but I might add a hint of contrast. Nice capture on the rock against the clean BG.:S3:
Love the lighting! Nice composition! I also agree with the above...just a touch of warming will be better.
Nicely composed image with just the right amount of habitat to give a sense of place to the image.
I sharpened the head some and adjusted some with curves. Thank you all for the suggestions. Hope I made enough of a change to see here. I had a great time with the coastal birds in Oregon. Fantastic that all the beaches are free to the public!
A noticeable improvement. Looking forward to more Oregon birds.
