Managed to find time to shoot feathers last Sunday. This guy runs back to join its friends at their feeding grounds after fending off a Common Sandpiper and Little Egret that went too near. I had to hide behind a pile of garbage for cover. http://www.naturescapes.net/phpBB3/i...s/icon_sad.gif
Mark this is awesome image. may be the ruddy ascending or it gives feeling of some CW rotation needed. i might give a clone of dark patch near beak.

Nice motion feel here. I like the leg color a lot.
Agree about the dark patch, also I would probably
get rid of the flying piece of sand right in front of the legs.
Takes too much attention.

Mark, that is very impressive panning, I must say. you should get into race-car shooting :-)
low angle makes a big difference. If mine, I'd back off a bit from sharpening of the bird.

Hi Mark, Nice job with this running juvenile. It sounds as if it was photographed in the Philippines, correct? Though there are no halos, the bird looks a bit over-sharpened. And yes to some CW rotation.

I'm OK with the flying sand, but agree with some CW rotation, and I would remove the speck at the bottom of the eye. I'd be tempted to at least tone down the dark spot touching the bill tip too. Good sense of speed with the blurred FG rocks!

Mark, great running pose, and I do like the low angle. Overall, well exposed, and agree on a touch of rotation.

Thanks for the great insights, everyone. Much appreciated.
As for the CW rotation, I was pondering about that too. The ground was uphill (left to right), so I decided to show it as is.
@Artie: Yes, this was taken in the Philippines, in a coastal lagoon near the city.
