Is there any reason to buy a brand name canon grip over a different brand grip? Looking through the "features" I don't see anything that is different but wondering what I am missing.

I have three grips at home. 2 third party grips ( both Opteka, one for the good 'ole Rebel XT that my kids still use and abuse, and one for the 30D that they also use but I keep a watchful eye on as it is my backup). My other grip is a Canon for my now defunct 40D (grip still works perfectly). I personally see no difference in actual use...they have all done (and still do) what they are supposed to. I do prefer the matching surface texture and logos of the Canon grip, and suspect that resell value for the camera with a Canon grip would be higher than with a third party grip. I'm likely going to go for a Canon grip for my 7D but I would be comfortable with an Opteka if budget was an issue for that item.
Thanks Daniel, and if you are looking to offload that grip for your now defunct 40D let me know haha :)
Hahnel seems to make a reasonable grip for both Canon and Nikon cameras, and the price is right.
