I see that I have missed many, many great images by everyone while I was away. Just got back yesterday afternoon from a week up at the cottage on Horseshoe Lake near Parry Sound Ontario. Lots of cool mornings with mist rising off the lake. Spent a lot of time canoeing around the lake in the early morning hours. In the bogs and shore fens there are many dewy spider webs hanging from dead, lichen covered black spruce branches. Here is one that I thought was framed rather nicely by the branch. I used Fractalius 'Glow 100' preset as a starting point and eventually arrived at this. I also did an alternate version with black background and white details in the web and branch.
Hi Andrew, I really likie this. Yes, great eye for the framing of the web and well framed in the overall image. The filter is great. Gives an impression of a pencil sketch, where the lines and textures of web and the branch work so well together. Well done!

Andrew, I have to agree with Jay..it reminds me of a pencil sketch, or a pen and ink sketch...complex lines within a clean, well-framed composition..it would be interesting to see other takes on this as well..I'd love to see the other rendition you spoke of, as well as this one with perhaps a hint of color...you have me curious! Nicely done.

Andrew, A wonderful pencil sketch look as Jay said. The web is nicely framed by the branches and I like the composition. Nice job w/ the high key back ground. I'd love to see the other version too. You could post it in this thread if you wanted.:S3:

Really cool image, and I agree with the others on the nice filter effect and composition. Glad you had a good trip.

Welcome back. Agree with above. Nice comp. Yes, would like to see the black backgroound---hey, maybe with Halloween coming up in Oct. this would be really cool with the black background and all the white transferred into orange
