Artie, if you are on line or read this, please help me. Or anyone else who reads this, preferably someone who has the items I am talking about. I have the Gitzo GT5540ls and the Wimberley 2 head, with flash adapter bracket, from BAA on April 2008, I love the setup, which I use for my Canon MK II N and 300mm 2.8f lens. I plan on purchasing the 600mm or perhaps 800mm prime lens with a Mark IV body. I want to know if the tripod and Wimberley 2 head I have will accommodate this setup weight wise and stability. It is very important that I know beforehand as you know it is quite a hefty expense and if I have to purchase a tripod and another head, then I have to factor that in to my buying.

First two questions
1: What lens are you currently using on the 3540 LS?
2: How tall are you?

No sweat. Ah, I was thinking that you had the tall skinny tripod, the Gitzo GT3541XLS, but I see that you have the shorter but much sturdier Gitzo GT5540LS. Do you know how the Gitzo GT5540LS differs from the Gitzo GT5541LS?

No I do not. I just read 2 reviews on both the 5540ls and 5541ls. Both seems very similar. I just got a service call to go out on. I will come back to this in about 1 hour. Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions.

Does your tripod have a center post?

No, no center post.

Thanks. That said, assuming that you are currently dealing successfully with the fact that the GT5540LS is too short for you, you should be fine with either a 600 or the 800 on it as far as stability and sharpness are concerned as the GT5541LS is the heavy duty CF tripod that we recommend for most folks. Folks can learn lots about the four Gitzo CF tripods that we carry by clicking here and then clicking on the various links. (It should be know that some of the info dealing with tripod heights provided on the Gitzo site and other sites as well is inaccurate by miles..... BAA would of course appreciate your business as a thanks for all the free info that we provide and all the questions that we answer.
