Shot early in the morning, hence a high (for me) iso. The young move more than the adults; they run, stop for a second, and then run again. At times when you are shooting low it is hard to move your lens and find the chick in the viewfinder before it moves again.
D300s, 600 VR with 1.4 tc. 1/320 (used vr), f/5.6 (wide open), iso 800, WB 6250.
This is a wonderful shot. The ripples in the sand are what make this picture truly spectacular. Bird is tack sharp with a great head angle. I wish I could see his feet but this is a very minor nit and doesn't take anything away from this terrific shot. Love the ultra low angle.

Beautiful tones to this. And the fluffiness of this chick is wonderful. Great sharpness too. Love the sand ripples as others have mentioned. Fantastic portrait!

Perfect angle Allan, and like how the little guy is posed on a raised section of the sand. Seeing the feet would have been better, but you have brought the fluffy detail nicely.

Sweet. Terrific comp, detail, colors, not to mention the light, and the sand moguls. Nicely done! I know what you mean about trying to move the big lens while lying in the sand - easier said than done.

Thanks for the comments. I did have another image showing the feet, but I did not like it overall as much as this one.
