Here is a Night Heron taken at Mud Lake in Ottawa, Ontario. I like the turtles sunning themselves in the background and have always been drawn to their red eyes.

Hi Jeff,
Interesting image. I like the turtles in the BG but it takes the eye away from the heron. I think that the 2 elements in the same pic are distracting.
What is the black rectangular object by the bird's foot?
Too bad you could not have moved 3 feet to the right to get the tree out of the way.
Gail
Thanks for the comments Gail. The object by the Heron's foot is another turtle. I would have loved to be able to move but it would have been a wet one...LOL.
I feel there is a bit much going on in this image. The heron partly obscured by the tree is not ideal and the IQ is not great. i would try a bit of NR on the Bg and desat a touch.
I like the turtles, but I think its the fact they are aligned with the bill that makes the image busy. Going for a lower angle might have worked by getting the turtle row much lower in the frame. Bummer about the tree at left. I struck out on this species there last week (only saw one, and way too far)...but at least I got a killer Snapper image!!:S3:
