My recent trip through Manitoba and Saskatchewan was filled with storm clouds, rain and lightening. My new camera only allows for 3 image bracketing (shame Nikon)..they devote a button for it and only 3 image bracketing.
You can see the rain falling in the distance, prairies were alive with green color and life...
Although farmers are having a bad time, according to the news only 10% of crops in. So expect bread to cost a lot more this year.
Paul, this is beautiful! It makes me feel like I'm standing right there in the field. I like the slight border and would also like a version with the darkest grasses on the bottom cropped to bring the farm instrument (?) slightly lower.
Beautiful quiet, peaceful image, and nicely seen and composed, Paul. Love the subtle color and soft cloudy day light on the grasses, wagon wheels and fence add interest and perspective to composition. Agree with Cheryl regarding a bit off the bottom. Very nicely done!
Overall a very nice image but agree that it would be stronger with the old farm implement lower in the frame.
Looks like 3 images were all that was needed on this one. Perfect amount of processing for this scene. Is it possible in Nikons bracketing engine to use exposure compensation once you have your brackets set? I sometimes set 3 image bracketing at 1.5 stop intervals and then drop the exposure compensation down so I have -3, -1.5, 0, then raise compensation to 0, +1.5, +3, and shoot another series. I then discard one of the 0's. Lately I've been shooting them in manual and checking histogram for each shot to get more accurate range of images. Sorry to be so forward, as you are probably aware of these techniques already. Love the image.
I'm so not a fan of HDR - unless its done like this. Excellent pp Paul! I, too, would recrop the image with a slight bit off the top and leave the field alone or take a chunk off the bottom and leave the sky alone. Overall, the image is lovely and full of depth but the farm tool is almost dead center and I think it's throwing the weight of the image off just a tiny bit.

Peaceful, painterly image. Calm. Love the grasses! I think the second post is an improvement in composition, though it is a shame to lose some of those lovely grasses.
