what did you do to piss him off James?:t3
2x converter. Wow. Very very nice result. Very sweet light and beautiful background that match the color of the young bird. Simply beautiful.

Impressive quality at that distance with a great HA and Bg That compliments the subject nicely. On my monitor the whites look to bright and have areas that lack detail so I pulled it into PS and tried to even out the tonalities on the Spoonbill using a linear burn and layer mask along with adding some black to the whites using a selective color adjustment layer and mask.
Thank Don.
I see a little more detail, however the head of the bird now has unnaturally grey areas.
Perhaps we should split the difference:w3.
Stunning portrait with a BG that looks great against the bird. I like your choice of aperture; it got you the entire bird in focus (I do realize that you're only stopped down a single stop from wide open at that focal length). You couldn't ask for a better head angle. I do like the idea of toning down the whites a little.
Wonderful portrait, James! Love the coloring and detail of bill and like how the similar color tones of BG compliment those on the bill. What was the BG btw? Agree about toning down the whites a bit, especially the lower neck area. Never have seen a baby spoony, TFS!
Repost lloks better re exp and whits detail. But the IQ is very impressive considering 2x. love the colors and the BG
Definitely prefer the re-post, look to me there more detail in the whites area. I love the result you managed to get with the kenko 2x converter, very impressive.
What a fabulous poster shot for the lens!!
Impressive image at 1600mm ,James.
Beautiful HA,comp and complementary bg.Well done
very nice image James,good details,nice BG,thanks.
Great shot.
The original post looks fine to me with details.
Hi James.
It's interesting that the Sigmonster can accept a 2X tc and produce excellent sharpness @ 1,600mm. I may have to get one of them for mine!
I agree that the whites in the OP may be a bit too bright and appreciate Don's repost.
But after seeing so many terrific images captured from the Hooptie Deux, how can Linda I get tickets to join you on one of those remarkable cruises? :t3
Norm
Just love the light in this, and you certainly captured a nice HA. Good DOF, and I like the soft pastel colour of the BG. BTW, impressive IQ for the FL.
sweet image James, I think the whites are fine. The HA is perfect.
Perfect! I prefer the first image and the BG works amazingly well here.
