Light and shadow over Half Dome

This one is from my day trip yesterday... Glacier Point is one of the highlight of Yosemite and the view can be spectacular. There were clouds and the late afternoon sun peaked through it creating an interesting effect across the valley... in this image I decided to frame using the trees and fg foliage. Here are the settings -

7D, Canon 17-40mm @ 17mm, Graduated ND (.6), on Gitzo/Giottos,
1/15 sec, f/22, Manual, Evaluative, ISO: 200

For processing, used Topaz Simplify on fg foliage, additional s/h on sky, selective color adjustment and curves. Hope you like it..

ps. I have gone with center horizon to balance between the sky and fg... any other suggestions to this cropping?

Beautiful image, Indranil! That's one heck of a view! :S3: I love the subtle filtering and the trees framing the scene. The composition looks fine to me, except that I might add a sliver on top to give the leftmost tree more room. Well done.

Indranil, I agree that Glacier Point is a true highlight of Yosemite, which is saying a lot! From up there at the point you get the feeling of what it is like to be a bird, high over the valley with an incredible view.

I like this image a lot. My only thought would be a bit more saturation, but that's just me. The filter work is very well done. Maybe Dave will help us out with a landscape critique. Very nice!

A different viewpoint than most images show. We all tend to walk in the footprints of the master there. It is nice to see something from a different vision. :c3: :cheers:

Beautiful, grand, expansive view, Indranil! Your Yosemite shots are just outstanding, and you keep knocking us out, over and over. I think Kerry may have a point regarding a bit more saturation, and agree Dave will probably have the best advice for making this shine even more! Nice work! :cheers:

Hi Indranil, that is a killer view with a nice treatment! To me it looks a little flat perhaps a little more contrast. I like the left-most tress, but it seems a little too dark - a result of the grad. If you could brighten it up a bit I think it would help. I'll certainly have to get here one day!
