This is from the edge of the cleared area where we were shooting in TX. The original untouched reminded me of a many years ago Frantz Lanting image of the chaos of a jungle and how hard it was to isolate subjects within. The good thing is that we did not have to do that since we had a wonderful clearing as background.
Anyway, this is a PB -oil paint-effect on the original and I really like this version. Hope you do also.
I like this, Steve! I kind of wish for a focal point like a bird lurking or a lizard in there somewhere but I like it and the idea! good work and creativity!

Might also make a good abstract with a push of a few color buttons. But that is another possible vision, should you choose to go there! :w3! :bg3:

This is not a throw away, but part of a whole story of the density of the brush surrounding our location. As a stand alone, it is nothing. To complete the story, it is priceless.

Just wanted others to realize that it isn't always what we first see. We can make use of many "throw aways" if we have a vision for them, as you do with this one.
Really like how you enhanced the texture of the dense brush with the PB oil, Steve. You definitely accomplished depicting the chaotic density of the environment, but my eye does crave a focal point as Dan mentioned.
Normaly this would be a very busy image with no point of ointerest. But for some reason this works as it is. I don't see a need for a focal point. I love the treatment applied. I think this would make a fine large print.
Steve, I like the story and your treatment does bring that well. When I look at this, the branches itself extending in all direction tell a story. Nicely done.
