I tone mapped this image in Photomatix and then decided I wanted to do a "Wallace Nutting" look. I have always admired his work and I have a signed print of "The Coming Out of Rosa" hanging in my foyer. So I converted the image to B&W -(the tone mapping was still important to many elements in the scene.)then I painting back in some of the flower colors, etc. I used Topaz Clean to stylize some of the flower heads. Added an Orton effect at a very low opacity.
I think I will try to age this photo in my next post, since I have been so inspired by Christopher's work.

Hi Denise, this looks absolutely beautiful. Love the soft colors in the flowers - hydrangeas? Can't wait to see the aged version! :S3:

Denise,
I love the softness and glow, especially around the porch. The pastel purples and pinks added to the flowers is a nice touch. Beautifully done.

This is beautiful, Denise. I would love to see just a hint of green in some of the hydrangea foliage.

Denise, wonderful hand-tinted look and a nice tribute to Nutting. How old is the print that you have? Wasn't the original made in 1912?

Thank you all for the comments, I appreciate them.
Maureen, Adding some green would certainly be an option-thanks.
Kerry, I bought mine several years ago. I know it's very old. Exact date-? The signature does not have a date. I know that the original was made in 1912 as you stated. I fell in love with the clusters of roses and the tiny little girl. The titled-was the icing on the cake. I had to have it and I'm sure I paid too much:S3: for it.

Very nice image, Denise! I know you are focusing on the flowers, but I would like to see a bit more of the chair and porch. I really like how you kept the grass (?) sharp behind the flowers, and kept the color in the flowers on the railing. I just bought the Topaz bundle, and now saving up for your book! can't wait. :S3:

Cheryl, I do have some other shots that show more of the porch. I'll try to get some of those processed and post them. So little time:t3 Thanks and you will love the Topaz Bundle.

Oh, goodie! I can't wait. :bg3:
yes, I love the bundle already, I have a very difficult time not using it on every image! :bg3: But I have so much to learn on it. But it will come.

Hi Denise, Even before I read Cheryl's comment, I too would like to see more of the chair with this finish. Having said that, your selective colouring of the flowers looks great, together with the overall finish. Another fine conversion from you. :w3

This one is really special. I like the desaturated effect and the way the tone mapping made the details stand out. Excellent.
