Not For Theme...Why Did the Fool Hen Cross the Road?

This Fool Hen is no more. It has ceased to function. Bereft of life, it rests in peace. It's a stiff. If it wasn't nailed to the road it'd be pushing up daisies. It's snuffed it. It's metabolic processes are now history. It's bleeding demised. It's rung down the curtain, shuffled off the mortal coil and joined the bleeding Choir Invisible. This is an Ex-Fool Hen. Ergo, it did not cross the road.

Another name for Spruce Grouse is "Fool Hen". Thought it fit for this weeks theme. Although after my last weeks, theme win. I decided just to post this for fun.

I was in EC Manning Provincial Park, BC, when this hen came out of the woods and walked right up to me, I lay on the road and it must have thought what is this guy doing, I may as well go have a look.....

I think this is Rufous Adult Female...Just lovely colors on this bird
Ran it through, of course what else, Topaz.

p.s.--no luck with the Mountain bluebird female....both my daughters moved out, one across the street and one 2 hours away...I am almost finished my and their renovations...Texas, New Mexico, Arizona in 17 days (Cancon, Cave Creek, Big Bend) going to fill some holes :c3:...then finish my coffee table book, WOW...man no wonder I got no time to take photos...LOLOL....Crown Royal night..I hate bi-fold doors (3 hours installing them)...:eek:...

Nice capture, Paul, and like the low angle. Monty Python is hilarious, just watched that skit on youtube. Another hilarious one to watch is the "Are you the brain surgeon?!!" skit, very funny. Do you have publisher for your book, or are you self-publishing?

What a fantastic bird for co-operating so well for you. Love the feather detail enhanced with topaz. Love the pov and the dof. I've published using Blurb, ended up with a really nice quality book.

Nice! The low angle shows off the beautiful breast feathers, textures and colors. The little plant in the foreground is a nice touch.
