I like the lighting, the effect and the comp. Very nicely presented Maureen!
I agree, real nice lighting, colors, and comp, Maureen. Good use of processing, has nice watercolor, painterly look to it. Well done!
Love the directional lighting and comp. Might tone it down in the center just a tiny bit. The black BG sets it of very well.
The black background really brings out the wonderful colors in the rose petals. Nicely presented Maureen! :S3:
Thanks for the comments :S3:
Nice composition, the subject is well lit, colorful and black background compliments..well doen
Agree with all the above. Beautiful colors and comp, Maureen!! :S3:
Great use of flash Maureen! Was this a flash bracket directly above the camera? Always a challenge to rein in the light from a flash that close to the subject and you did a great job. Colors are super and the dark bg really sets it off!
Kerry, I was holding the SB900 in my left hand (arm's length away to the left and above the flower), triggered by the d300 built in flash (1/64 - commander mode) James Shadle demonstrated this last month at a workshop I attended. It's a little tricky without a tripod but I was too lazy to haul that around. I was running around at 10pm flashing at just about everything in my yard. :bg3:
Maureen, that's an excellent technique that I have used also but with the off-board flash sitting in its little stand. I love it that cameras can do that now without any extra gear. Good example of when and how to use it!
Lovely selective lighting of this beautiful rose. Beautiful colors. The dark bg makes the rose stand out and shine. I wonder if toning down the center a bit might bring out the colors. I'm enjoying the image of you in the dark taking photos of your flowers. :-)
