I had never used a 2X TC on my Canon 300/4 IS lens and wanted to see if I could capture reasonably sharp images. I had to manual focus as the Canon 7D loses AF with a lens/TC yielding an f greater than 5.6. This was the sharpest out of about 15 images.

Sharpness isn't bad for the lens/TC combo you were using. Exposure looks good. I'd sharpen the bird a little more. And I'd both noise reduce the BG and crop off the top and right of the frame.
Thanks for the suggestions.....will try. The 7D has a noise problem even at ISO 800, at least in shadows.Quote:
