From the other day , when it was warm here.:2eyes2: Overcast , soft light seemed perfect for this subject. The pond has been frozen so when people approach, the swans come close as they expect to get a handout. When they start to nest , they won't be so friendly. As a matter of fact , they get downright mean.

Joe, I like the pose and soft light. I'm seeing a very, very slight halo around the bill and knob but it may just be my laptop. Lovely powder blue BG and very nice sharpness. Well done.:S3:

Joe, excellent exposure and detail in both the whites and blacks. Lovely soft BG. We have geese at a local spot that surround you hoping for a handout, and they too get really annoying.

I love head shots and you created a beautiful one here. Excellent detail, and the exposure is spot on - the soft light really helps with birds having both whites and deep blacks. Just a pefect image - wish it were mine!
On my monitor, I don't see the halo that Denise mentioned (viewing the image on a MacBook Pro, non-calibrated).

Sounds like the Canada Geese up here! Good portrait. Nice details, exposure looks perfect. I'd prefer a bit more room right and below, and I see the halo Denise refers to.
