Another shot of the BC hawk owl. Hope to get back up there next week to see if he's still around. Would have liked more ss but it was getting late, also wish for more room below.
D300, 400 w/1.4tc, 1/640, f4, iso1600, man exp +2EC.
Thanks for looking, comments and critiques appreciated.

great pose and the wing blur is just the right amount. very good sharpness for 1/640sec!

I find the wing blur a bit too much , but the fact that the owl has a prey item more than makes up for it. Great action captured and nice comp. and exposure.

Good action shot and wing blur is OK by me. I would like to see a bit more of the vole which a bit of 'artful dodging' would accomplish. There's a bit of light foliage in the bg near the bird's left foot that could be cloned away as well as the bright spot above the neck.

Sharp where it counts Todd, and good to see his catch firmly clasp in the claws. Well timed and captured.

Love the sharp eye and the vole (complete with eye and catchlight!); and also the boreal feeling to this. Surprised there is so much detail to the foliage at f/4. Wouldn't have minded a little less wing blur, but a capture to be proud of.

Nice and sharp against the green BG which I like. Also like the wing blur and prey, well captured in that light .

Hey Todd,
You pushed the D300 as far as you could.....so result to be proud of! I might go and lighten the vole selectively.....just a smidge.....to further seperate it from the BG.....but all in all.....vey nicely done!

I really like the shot todd. For me the wing blur holds lots of drama.
