I had not been a BPN member very long before Dave Phillips passed but he was very helpful when he critiqued some of my early posts and I always was impressed with his work. So this is my tribute to him....a winter scene near my home...treated as a single image HDR with photomatix and topaz adjust....

Joel, Dave would surely be smiling at all of the great work being posted this week. Dave was very helpful to many members with his always "honest but gentle critiques". I think more than anyone on this site he embraced those words.
I like the natural processing you applied. a couple of things, I do wish that the sun were more of a a starburst. I might clean up the tiny LRC, I wouldn't crop it I would evict it, and the teeny tiny bright spot above the sun. This is a wonderful tribute image. :S3:
So much for spell check! yikes!

I love this image for two reasons, Joel. First, it captures a Kentucky winter mood very well - excellent use of single-image HDR and Topaz Adjust. Agree with Denise that the LRC black spot should go. Even though the sun is blowing the whites, that doesn't bother me because it evokes a mood that I remember well. Second, I'm originally from Kentucky and this reminds me very much of a Kentucky winter. Lovely, and TFS!

Joel, a lovely image. It reminds me of Dave's posts of Cooterville.:S3:

Very lovely image, Joel. I think we all were very inspired by Dave. :S3: I love the lighting and mood. Denise hit the critique right on the head.
