This started out as a close up of a clump of grass. I squared it, duplicated, twirled in opposite directions then layered one on the other using Difference blend at 60%. Then dup layer, invert,
Difference blend again at 100%, then a cooling filter to get the color I wanted.
Thanks for looking. Comments and suggestions appreciated:)

Here's a different version. I used Nik Color, B&W, the Nik Color Efex Brightness/Warmth, then Nik Reflector Soft Gold, and USM. Somewhere along the process I squared the image up a bit.
Not as cheery but a totally different look:)

Cheryl, I love the B&W version. It reminds me of an ice sculpture for some reason. Nice thinking OOTB to create this in the first place.

Cheryl, I really like both versions and am partial to the color one. I would like to see the second image with the same crop as the first, as I like the glassy look but the crop seems too wide to me. I absolutely love the colors of the first image, just super! Nice work with the processing to get this look.

Fantastic abstract, Cheryl. It almost has a 3D effect. Both versions are good but I like the b&w version - its got that antique and mystic feel to it.

Brilliant! Creative! Love your inventiveness!
Fabulous colors and shapes. It looks like a stained glass window. The color one is my favorite. I wish the tips of the "grasses" were included, and I'm not partial to the lilac border.
Excellent work!

Cheryl,
I like the color one best... love the glass effect. Very creative and beautifully done. I don't mind that some of the tips of the grass are missing as the center of interest for me is the lower heart shaped curve.

Very nice image and application, Cheryl.
Both are awesome, I tend to lean toward the second, but also like the first.

Wonderful glassy composition, Cheryl, and I especially like the B&W version. I also would like to see the tips of the grasses, but that's a minor nit. Very creative, well done!

Hi Cheryl, wonderful! It reminds me of blown glass, very cool!

I also thought it looked like a stained glass window and, although I love the original, I wonder what it would look like if you painted color over a few areas and really went for the stained glass look?
Brilliant strategy on this one and well worth the effort - it's so beautiful!

Really like this Cheryl! Nice creative thinking, and use of effects. Like the color and B&W and would like to see more versions, taking it further. Even try contrasting different versions in multiple panels.

Hard to choose...but I do love those blues. I read your description several times and think I will print them out and play with the technique. I never think of combining several different effects.

Very lovely flow and effect, Cheryl! It looks like a glass sculpture to me. I like both versions about equally. Well done!

Thanks everyone for your comments. I liked them both for different reasons but especially liked the heart shaped look in the bottom half.:S3:
