Refractions & Collisions

Finally had some time last night to play for a bit. I used a white b/g and bounced two strobes at a 45º angle (to get the refraction) set to manual mode @ 1/64th output. Placed a red gel on one of the strobes and angled it higher. I was originally going for perfect symmetry, but I would have had to raise the bottle and back off the camera a bit and the collision would of been too small in the frame. But I was please with the curve after all.
Manual Mode - 100mm - f/22 - ISO 400 - 1.0 sec - Time Machine Trigger Unit. Basic PP & had to clean up some stragglers in PS.

Beautiful work, Susan! Very dramatic colors and I love the collision. I kind of wish the collision was a shade further away from the bottle neck, but that's minor.

Noticed the 1 sec exposure... was there another source of light (ambient?) or was this to allow the Time Machine some working room or???? Thanks for sharing your set up info too. :)

Hi,

The strobes was the only light source. The exposure is set long enough to be able to capture the event.

Susan, this is amazing. Wonderful work indeed!

There she goes again..pushing the envelope!! and in my opinion quite successfully. Definately a different way of presenting a collision with the addition of refracted light and subject matter. The red gradient also works well...very nice!!
