This was taken at Flamingo Bay on Sunday around 5 o'clock in the afternoon. This was my first opportunity to see them reallly out in the open and close enough to be able to photograph them. I would like the light to have been a little brighter for the underside but was still thrilled to be able to capture one.

Super photo of this beautiful bird, Judy Lynn, I love the cloud and sky background. I know you wish it were lighter but I'd be thrilled to have photographed this one.

It definitely shows off the tail. But as you mentioned a bit more light underneath would really help.

Hi Judy,
I like the photo a lot, composition is dead on love the contrast that the background gives. Would have like to have a wee bit more light on the underside of the bird, but hey, next time..:) I love it BIG CONGRATS...:D

Nice capture Judy of this hard to find bird. I saw eight in a flock last week but it was before daylight and unable to get an image. Glad to see yours and hope to see more. Better to have one than not! :)

Hi Michael, I did see three at Anhinga Trail at about 6 o'clock in the evening for about ten muinutes and then they flew off again going higher and higher. I do believe the action has begun although I did not see any in the parking lot. I inquired if they had begun to build their nests but no one seem to think so yet. Hope to see you again there Michael.
