This is an in-camera blur at the crane ponds at sunrise. I tried following individual cranes that looked interesting and took many, many images, hoping for some that did not have a bunch of other cranes confusing the background.
C & C very welcome.

Hi Nancy, this is quite nice. I like how the three sharpest birds are within the comp and minimal merging of the other birds. Nice work!:)
I think this works quite well. As mentioned by Andrew, the 3 main cranes are dominantly visible with the remainder blending nicely into the background.
Nancy, I like this a lot. A lot of motion implied, nice colors and I like the subtle colors in the bg:)
This is what blurs are at their best - you see some things sharp and some things blurred and you know exactly what it is while still letting your mind run with it. Very nice! The colors especially put this one over the top for me.
Ready, Get set, GO!!! Love it, Nancy! :) Excellent action and comp. I love how three of the cranes are sharp while the rest are blurred. Very nicely done!
Nice work Nancy, it is indeed a challenge to get good group shots like this! I like the blur and the flurry of wings. Good balance between blur and sharpness.
Thank you everyone! I never would have thought to try to take an image like this before I met the OOTB folks.:)
Outstanding capture and blur Nancy! I like the sharper heads showing along with the blurred wings.
Wonderful image full of motion and energy. Congratulations!
