How is Fort Desoto Park Around New Year's?

How is the bird photography around Fort Desoto Park and the general St Petersburg and Tampa area around new year's day? The 3 day weekend (Friday is off for us) is tempting.

Hi Hany:

Dec/Jan isn't the best time to go to Ft DeSoto but, if you are going to be in the area, this location is rarely a bad place to photograph. There are a number of shorebirds and seabirds on North Beach right now with some good opportunities. There is some walking and patience involved, but normally well worth the trip.
