The woods near my home are loaded with these creepers. Fairly mundane, I tried a ton of effects before almost giving up trying to make this interesting. Here was my last take.....
PP similar to the earlier Bark posting. Addition of adaptive vignette............

Jay, I think you did well at getting a special look out of something mundane. Using a vignette was a good idea for this but I think if it were less irregular and quite a bit lighter I might like it more. As it is now, it seems a bit overpowering, especially on the yellow leaf.

Excellent critique.............I haven't been comfortable with the image yet and I think that helped..............I will still have to fool around the vignette idea..............here's a try. I may end up forgetting the vignette idea altogether...........

Jay, I really think the vignette is a good idea. Are you making it manually or with a program/filter or...?
When it comes to vignettes, I like them to be as simple as possible so I usually do them manually.

Jay, You really changed something mundane to interesting. I like the composition of the twigs with bright color leaf and the bg. The second repost works well here. Beautifuly done.

There are a few things that I want to say about this image...
First, I like the final post the best but I'd love to see the top post with just the vignette pulled back a bit. I like that you can see the black over the yellow - just not quite as strong as Ken mentioned.
Second, the mood here is outstanding. OUTSTANDING! Gosh, I feel like I'm being shown something very secretive and protected. Way to create a feeling to go with the image!
Third, the yellow is gorgeous but that pop of purple on the curly Q is making me want to scream, "Yes! Yes! A thousand times yes!"
Well put together. You've got the total package here and from what I've been seeing of your work lately - it's no fluke. You're doing some beautiful work and you need to keep after it. I think you've crossed the line from "normal" to "extraordinary" in your post-processing and the more you learn the better your art will become. Lovely image!!!

Jay, I think Jules summed it up nicely:) I really like the vignette idea but just not quite so much as the OP. The final post is outstanding. Very, very nicely done.

Jules summed up it perfectly. :) Way to go, Jay! You definitely took something ordinary and made it extraordinary. Very well done.

Jay, you had a very good concept and executed it nicely. The vignette is an easy fix and I agree that the original post with a smaller, more regular vignette would be perfect. If you go back into Nik CFX Pro and change the vignette method to the rectangular one then play with the size and opacity you would end up with the right look overall. I do love the mood and the extra drama given by the dark vignette. Nice work!

Beautiful capture. You made the ordinary extraordinary. Good job! Lovely colors and light. I can't decide between 2nd and 3rd posts--I like them both. There is a special quality to this image.
