Hi Ram, Please do not get upset if people do not "comment or critique" your submissions. The closer you are to perfection the fewer people seem to feel confortable in critiqing. As with this picture that you provided follows closely the rules of conformation. Sharpness of one area or the next maybe more to our differences in monitors. To me the head could be sharpened just a little. A personal critique of mine is - entire bird not in focus, this is not a critique usually given by the BPN's membership. I see one mark on the backgrd (lower right of birds breast.) Amount of space above bird is good if its purpose is to allow lettering, but seems excessive for general submission.
Rob...............
Almost a great HA mate. I don't mind the oof grass obscuring the right foot (left on the image as we view). Well done. :)
Rob, the reason for the entire bird not being sharp is most likely that the image was taken at close range at f/4. There is no DOF on a 600mm lens at close proximity. Well very minimal only. :) Most folks would probably be aware of the optical constraints. Some now put multiple images together to allow for lack of DOF. To me that is not photography though. LOL!
I like bushchats and welcome your shot here. The green seems oversaturated, and more depth of field would be good. A horizontal crop, allowing the bird to look into the frame, could also be considered.
I see a slight sharpening halo around the head. The green right foot is from an OOF foreground weed. Might try to reposition next time.
I like the photo, but the head is not sharp, I also notice the halo around the head, did you retoutch the BG?
