Very nice low angle and image detail, I certainly would have been happy if I'd taken the image. I might clone out the dark streaks under the bird. The reflection I think is a problem, but there isn't much you could have done about.

I don't mind soft lighting. But a little warmth in the light and some cloud detail are always nice.
We get a ton of days like this at this time of year. This photo was taken around 10:30am and was as fast as I could get at ISO800, f/4 and 1/800. Very hard for me to get nice shots of hawks and other birds in the air.
I had been looking at swans flying by at ISO1600 an hour after our sunrise time.
Early morning sun is always nice.

Hi Dave. See what you mean about the lighting; it must have been darker than it appears in the photo, and although I really like soft light, there is a big difference between "light" overcast and when it is darker. Indeed, flight captures with low intensity lighting, and the high ISOs needed, certainly can negate the exposure advantages.
