This is a slight crop of a female green crowned brilliant at a heliconia flower. I was going for detail on the bird and interaction between hummer and flower. I find these guys fascinating...
Four flash setup geared for more of a back lit mood.

Hi Christoph,
A rich, colorful, action-filled image. Good use of super-tight aperture to make the focal plane nice and deep. I love the obviously cool part of this image......the pollen (I think) falling out of the flower. But the other compelling feature is the underlayer of white beneath the birds feather scales.....I really like that! Bokeh is sweet and smooth as well. If the area around the eye was a little brighter this one would be even better but it's always something.......... Well done!

Awesome concept! I love the pollen falling (great flow pattern by the particles) and the flower touching the bird's bill...very cool. Only thing is that I am not crazy about the gap between the bird and right edge below...I'd crop a bit more there to eliminate said gap.
Way to go on a super image!

Beautiful interaction here! I like the falling pollen. When I was zoomed in this close I liked watching the mites running from the bill to the flower and back again. Did you see any?
